This collection contains two distinct sections. The first portion is genealogical correspondence, primarily of Joseph G. Woodward. He was trying to trace his ancestry back to Thomas Hooker. Family names represented are Woodward, Hooker, and Perkins. Additionally, one folder contains Gurley and Woodward family papers. These include correspondence, deeds, and other assorted documents. Among the genealogical correspondence is an envelope of Hartford playbills and assorted news clippings. There are also two transparencies of the Perkins family crest.
